Robert joined the company in January 2021, and is one of our Senior Project Engineers. Robert specialises in access control and CCTV, and has a few hidden talents, which he tells us about below.

Tell us a bit about your background in the fire and security industry.
I started in the industry at 18, as an apprentice alarm engineer, then progressed to a service engineer, mostly doing servicing on fire alarms, nurse call, and emergency lighting systems. Later I progressed into install and subsequently became an install project manager. I got to spend a few years working as a security integrator in the United States, taking care of mostly enterprise level Access Control systems and CCTV on a national level.
What attracted you to coming to work for Diamond Systems?
Diamond has a great vision for the future and it is one I would like to be a part of.
What has been the highlight of your first 6 weeks in the business?
A highlight has been seeing the variety of systems we can offer, and the quality of the products we deliver to our clients. Whether its Fire Alarms, Security, or CCTV – I think we have some of the best products available globally.
What type of systems do you enjoy working on the most?
I genuinely love Access Control and CCTV, and especially the integrations that are now available between both products. Gone are the days of grainy black and white multiplexed video stored on VHS. Not only can we deliver high definition video, but CCTV can now offer a wide range of analytics that help meet the security needs of our clients. Facial recognition, loitering, and unusual activity alerts bring new tools for security teams to utilise.
Tell us one thing not many people know about you (yet!)
I love to compete in Brazilian Jiujitsu. I was supposed to compete at the PanAms and World Masters at the end of last year in Florida but tore my MCL in my knee in training. Hopefully 2022! I also can speak Mandarin Chinese.
