Apprenticeships

So you want to be a Fire & Security Alarm Systems Engineer….?

The Job: Each day that you are working onsite you will be sent out to various jobs alongside one of our experienced engineers. You will have the opportunity to assist with both maintenance and installation projects. As you progress further in your role you will get to take a lead on your own projects.

The Hours: In your first 12-18 months you will be on site 3 days per week in addition to 2 days at college. Onsite time will gradually increase over the course of the apprenticeship to a full (5 day) working week.

The Future: Provided that you display competence in your role and committment to the company we would hope to offer you a full time engineering position upon NVQ Level 3 qualification.

The Training

Our apprenticeship programme is run in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College. Apprentices will attend classes at the Castlereagh Campus two days each week over the course of the three years.
On completion you will hold both:

NVQ Level 2
NVQ Level 3
Studies include managing, installing and upgrading security and alarm systems; providing technical advice and fault diagnosis; and managing system development, security and strategic risk. Find out more about the programme on the Belfast Metropolitan College website here.

* In order to enrol in the programme you will need to arrange your own apprenticeship with a relevant company, such as Diamond Systems. You will receive a wage over the course of the apprenticeship, accounting for time spent both onsite and in college.
